About Breath & Emotion in Performance
Breath & Emotion in Performance is a class created by Catharine that teaches how targeted breathwork can generate a wide variety of emotional states.
Once learned, these emotional states can be easily accessed through invoking different breathing rhythms - noting that they are organic to the body. The end result is that the actor can evoke emotional states at will, purely by regulating their breath.
This work is adaptable for use on camera and on stage.
Several ancient Vedic texts have been used to create this method, including the later Vedic text the Nātya śāstra - as the basis for this technique. This work is psycho-physical, engaging the whole body-mind of the actor.
